Frames must be enabled in your browser to properly view this page. The Atherton Tablelands are a place to excape the humidity of Cairns. It is much dryer there in the Spring. Lake Tinaroo is famous for its Barramundi fishing but there are other aspects of the area that are worth exploring. Yungaburra is a colorful little village that is not too far from the world's largest Curtin Fig Tree. Platypus Park in Atherton is nice, that is where Platypus Station is located. Roger the steam engine takes folks on a tour of the area on a train drawn by a steam locomotive. Local environs also feature potato and dairy farming. Downtown Atherton also has a new McDonalds in addition to a vibrant Main Street. We stayed at Lake Tineroo while exploring the area.
