Flora and Sights of Kuranda/Cairns/Mossman Gorge Queensland Australia Pt. 2

The flora seen at the Kuranda train station and the Cairns Botanical Gardens is great in August. Take a good look at the bench Liz and Allan are sitting on. The detail of the craftsmanship took great skill. North of Cairns are two other destinations worth a look. They are Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas. Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas can be seen in one day either by tour bus or car. Quite a stir occurred when the local Port Douglas newspaper reported Monica Lewinski was spotted there. Mossman Gorge is at the end of a road which has a small parking lot. Congestion is normal so you might have to walk a ways after parking along the road. In August, a cool swim in the river can be mighty refreshing. Notice how the trees attach themselves to the boulders...and encompass it with their roots. Nature in the rainforest adapts to whatever harsh environment is present. Small vines climb tall trees...to get to the sun. In tourist areas...everyone has opal for sale. The main types of opal available are thunder eggs and boulder opal. Naturally, the more pleasing to the eye..the higher the price.
