I still can't get over the experience of visiting the aviary at Kuranda. It is built on the side of a hill in a rainforest setting with netting at the tops of the trees. Wooden decking and paths lead you down and around the hillside. Be there early since that is feeding time and you will get to see the most lovely tropical birds...at arms length.
