Ever wondered where people in Cairns go to get away from the humidity?? They go to the Atherton tablelands, which is southeast of Cairns. Lake Tinaroo has barramundi galore..if you can catch them. I spent three days learning the tricks..and these pictures show you how to catch them..and what to use for bait. I also was invited to join the local group of metal detector enthusiasts in looking for old coins in a school yard. The picture of the bloke digging...shows his equipment and his garb. Flame trees are beautiful in bloom. The pictures of the red and the orange were taken on the table lands. Orchid Valley is on the way from Cairns. The folks grow orchids for show and selling. There is a orchid house with waterfall.. Of course, there are other plants in bloom which thrive in not only the tropics but other places in Australia besides. There is also an acre kangaroo, walabee pen. The intelligent looking kangaroo with the bullet hole in his ear actually took a liking to me. I was taking close up pics of him and he wanted to put his nose on the lens. I was fiddling with the camera and I felt something scratch my side...he had jumped past me and tried to grab me with his claws. Perhaps I was too close to his misses and their joey. Anyway, no harm done...the grounds keeper gave him a juicy branch and he left me alone.</font></p><script type="text/javascript">  </script> <noscript> <img src=/cgi-bin/ax.cgi?trans.gif height=1 width=1 alt= /> </noscript>
