Have you ever seen a Black Opal from Lightning Ridge? Black Opals are found in only one area of the world, Lightning Ridge New South Wales. Black Opals are attached to a layer of black which accentuates the vivid colors. Finding good quality Black Opal isn't hard on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. The opals on the left are examples of most sought after colors.

After Allan and I saw a few samples like this, at the South Bank Opal Museum, we started planning our own opal expedition to Lightning Ridge....:)

After getting off the City Cat water taxi at point Z on the map, we walked through the sky scrapers until we found the City Botanic Gardens. The flowers were in full bloom and the landscaping was in tip top condition.

The bird on the railing is a Kookaburra.

Aren't these heart shaped flower beds full of color and lovely?
