After a good nights sleep in Brisbane we set out to explore. Brisbane like most major Australian cities is situated on a major river. Brisbane is on the Brisbane River which snakes its' way through this cosmopolitan city. It is on the left in this picture. This picture was taken from Mount Coot-tha which is the location of an observatory and the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens.

Liz had a meeting at Kangaroo Point which is right under the Story Bridge that crosses the Brisbane River. Allan and I walked around the area which is a park. Benchs, barbies, children's playground equipment, and Aboriginal works of art lined the shoreline.

On the map, Z is some of downtown, Y is the City Botanic Gardens, and X is the South Bank area, home of a previous International Exposition, museums, and performing arts. C is where the casino is located with the entrance to the downtown mall. The casino is across Victoria Bridge from South Bank.

Looking across the river toward the Z area of the map were two ladies from New Zealand on a holiday. They recognized my Okie accent as not being Australian and were interested in hearing about the States.

Australian architecture is a beauty to behold.
