After visiting the Big Opal and several other places it became clear that in the time we had to spend in Lightning Ridge, we weren't going to stumble on the find of the century. Those interested in Opals 101 can click here. We'll wait on you and continue when you return.

Bevan's Cactus Black Opal and Cactus had a good assortment of flora. It was early and we didn't get to see their opal. The road leading to their place...like most others off the beaten trail was like a cow path.

August in the outback is Spring. The flowers are beginning to be in full bloom and the trees are awakening.

The trees were blossoming.

The soil resembled the deserts in Arizonia.
