Allan was playing with 'Cocky' while the girls visited in the outdoor dining area of the hotel. We heard enough stories about Lightning Ridge that we wondered if we should have left the guns and bullet proof vests at home. (Big Grin) |

This is an example of Aboriginal art on the wall of the liquor store next door to the hotel. After the visit and meeting the 'characters' in the pub, we were on our way...by backroads...to Lightning Ridge. |

Emus are in the wild....and are domesticated...for the benefit of the investor. These two were in the bush with several others. I talked their language...and they would walk back and forth with me...up and down the road...from a safe distance. It was also on this road that I saw live kangaroos. Previously...on the 2 lane blacktop...all that I saw were roadkill. |
